Don’t think just because there is construction around us that we have to put up with noise nuisance. There are still rules to protect Residents.
Many have been concerned by construction starting early in the morning, before the permitted time of 8am.
The Council are looking into this:
“I can advise that I did witness the breach of the hours myself this morning as I was on site at 7:25 am carrying out some monitoring. The evidence obtained will be used to pursue the matter in the Courts”.
Any construction work will also have to comply with noise standards, called statutory nuisance. The law states that Residents should be able to enjoy the quiet of their own home – any persistent noise you hear inside from outside may break this rule. If you have concerns, report them anonymously to the Council.
